Getting Married in Georgia—The Quick and Easy Alternative

For 20 years, we have been successfully helping couples from all over the world get married in Denmark. However, as of January 1, 2019, new laws regarding marriage in Denmark have gone into effect. The changes affect both the required documents and the entire administrative process.

The Danish Family Law Agency is solely responsible for reviewing the documents. The agency will only issue a marriage license if the review of the documents is successful and there is no doubt that the marriage is not a sham.

The Family Law Agency has very specific rules and strict requirements for marriage applications, which must be followed exactly in order to obtain approval on the first attempt.

If your application is not submitted correctly (for a variety of reasons) and questions arise, this currently leads to a delay in processing ranging from a few weeks to 7 months.

Georgia is the perfect choice for a dream wedding

Since our customers have been increasingly asking for a simple and quick alternative to “Getting Married in Denmark”, we decided to look for an alternative, found one, tested it, and would now like to introduce “Getting Married in Georgia”.

Why should you consider getting married in Georgia?

This beautiful country is known for its breathtaking scenery and romantic atmosphere, but there are other reasons to have a wedding in Georgia as well.

Completely free of red tape

In Georgia, it is NOT necessary to provide a birth certificate, a certificate of single status, or even a certificate of no impediment to marriage. You DO NOT have to prove your relationship through shared photos, screenshots of your communications, travel bookings, etc.

In Georgia, unlike in Denmark, it is also possible to change your last name upon marriage.

Visa-Free Travel in Georgia

Citizens of many countries do NOT need an entry visa to enter Georgia. Anyone who holds a Schengen visa or a residence permit for an EU country may enter Georgia visa-free and get married there.

Quick Appointment Scheduling

There are no waiting periods for weddings in Georgia. A civil wedding can be arranged within a few days.

A wide variety of wedding venues

We offer wedding ceremonies at the registry offices in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi, as well as civil wedding ceremonies in the mountains, by a mountain lake, at the seaside, in the botanical garden, etc.

Georgia is a fairytale wedding destination

We’re completely in love with Georgia - it’s a truly enchanting and very special country! There are so many different facets and sights to look forward to.
In the vibrant heart of Georgia-Tbilisi-you’ll encounter Georgian culture, the Orient in Europe, ancient traditions, and the modern spirit of freedom among its young residents.
Another city well worth visiting, nestled in a beautiful landscape, is Kutaisi. Georgia’s mountain scenery is unique - endless expanses, snow-capped peaks, simple mountain villages, and crystal-clear lakes will delight everyone.

Georgia is also an affordable travel destination

The price-to-value ratio is quite low compared to Denmark, and so are all professional services.

The crime rate, even in the capital city of Tbilisi, is very low. Georgia ranks 29th on the Global Safety Index (by comparison, Germany ranks 51st).

Georgian hospitality is exemplary

Georgians are very warm and famous for their hospitality. Georgian cuisine is truly something special. As they say there, if you want to get to know Georgia, you have to experience the Georgian table and the Georgian toasts. It’s not just the wine and the food that are simply fantastic.

A short 4-hour flight

Georgia has the advantage that you can get there in just 4 hours by plane. That’s also the most convenient way to get to Georgia. For example, Lufthansa offers direct flights from Munich to Tbilisi, and the Turkish airline Pegasus offers connecting flights via Istanbul.
Our tip: Alternatively, you can fly directly to Kutaisi with the Hungarian low-cost airline “Wizz Air” from cities including Dortmund, Berlin, and Memmingen.
